Loving tribute to our Sr. Marie Rose
‘’After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into this world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. ‘’ 1 Timothy 6:7
God bestowed the gift of life to Sr. Marie Rose on 28 November 1930 in Mangalore. Mr. Aloysius Felix and Mrs. Rose Seraphine Pais, the devout parents of Sr. Marie Rose, ensured that this precious child of God was nurtured in faith and wisdom. Sr. Marie Rose had the companionship of four brothers and three sisters.
Having seen and interacted with the FSM sisters in Nazareth convent, Balmatta, she came to know about St.Francis of Assisi and Mother Marie Virginie. Inspired by the life and mission of sisters in the convent, she treasured in her heart an ardent desire to dedicate her life to the Lord in service of humanity one day. Sr. Marie Rose’s family came together every evening to pray. It is this daily practice nurtured in her the desire to become a nun. As this desire grew stronger and deeper, she dared to leave the comfort of her familial habitat and in the year 1950 she reached Nazareth convent, Balmatta.
Convinced by God’s call to be a sister and servant, she completed her novitiate in Mangalore and said her first Yes to the Lord on 12th of February, 1953. She made her final commitment on 8th of May. She completed her B.Th. in Rome and Junior typing, spiritual cum counselling course to serve the Lord.
Sr. Marie Rose rendered her service in different communities. She shared the responsibilities such as Assistant Novice Mistress in Salem, Novice Mistress, Animator of Mangalore, Vittal, Salem, and Elathagiri communities, Secretary FSC in charge in Karwar and provincial councilor for 6 years.
She was gifted with artistic talents, music and practical knowledge. She was a person of compassionate heart and always at the service of the community. When entrusted with any responsibility, Sr. Marie Rose took it seriously and worked hard to make sure that she carried it out well. She was well known for her punctuality and organization. She was a very hospitable person in whose company every sister felt at home. She valued cleanliness next to godliness and so tidiness was never compromised. With all the talents that Sr. Marie Rose received from God, She made her life a gift to the others.
Sr. Marie Rose was ill from 2 years because of the old age but in her last stage she was found to be suffering from Covid +ve. She was admitted in SCS Hospital, Mangalore on 5th May. At the time of admission, her saturation was fluctuating and over the days, her health deteriorated as her lungs were infected very badly. The doctor attending to Sr. Marie Rose had tried his best to give her the best medical care. We hoped and believed that Sr. Marie Rose would return to good health. However, God bestowed the gift of eternal life to Sr. Marie Rose at the age of 91, on May 7that 2.17 pm.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE
“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.”
