‘Cling to Him and do not depart so that your last days may be prosperous'. Sirach 2:3.

"Though death is the end of human life it is a great entry to Divine Life"

Sr. Mary Stanislaus was a person filled with the spirit of the Lord. She was born on 18th of January 1941 third among four children to a devoted parents Mr. Purathuru Devasi and Mrs Theresa at Kerala. On 19th March 1961 she was captured by the Spirit of Lord and stepped into our FSM family. She pronounced her first vows on 24th November 1964 and she said her daring final ‘yes’ to the Lord in 1969. She had the joy of celebrating her Silver jubilee in 1989 and her Golden jubilee in 2014. She rendered her 59 years of fruitful service in various places and played different roles as a Teacher, Headmistress, Guide and a Mother. Above all her service to the Congregation and the Church through her pastoral activities were very much appreciated. She had played a great role amidst the tiny stars of the humanity in all the places of her mission in the nursery schools at Salem, Mathigiri, Krishnagiri, Chennai, Hosur, Tiruchencode, Edamon, Pothy, Mathil. She had implanted a remarkable inspiration to all. She had great determination, an attitude of gratitude, concern and love for each and every one of us and she had a great respect for authorities.

We do admire her life lived with self respect, dignity, simplicity, sensitivity and generosity. She has served God with commitment, shared her love with all and endured pain and struggles when she was sick.

By October 2022 some changes in her health condition. Often stomach pain and constipation, swelling on her leg etc. She was admitted in the hospital many times Doctor did many tests they could find nothing. But her ill health continued. Though doctor’s advised to have colonoscopy she never agreed. By November she was shifted to Madagondapalli for her better treatment. At first she showed the symptoms of improvement but it did not last long. By the last week off January she was shifted to hospital at Madagondapalli. She needed the help oxygen mask and tube. She received the sacrament of the sick and bid goodbye to everyone in the community with a broad smile and requested the permission to meet her Divine Master.

On 9th February surrounded by the community sisters, she breathed her last peacefully at 9:15 a.m. on 10th of February we had prayer service and carried her to the church in procession.  The Holy Mass was celebrated at 11.am by 7 Priests, surrounded by many of our FSM sisters, her beloved family members, friends and well wishers. After the mass she was carried to our cemetery and laid to rest along with her elder Sister Lucy Mary.

“Death saddens us because of the separation it causes, our faith comforts us with the knowledge that we will be together in Eternal Bliss again”.

Dear Sr. Stany this fresh memories of yours fill our hearts and minds and eyes. We never thought you will leave us very soon. Your sudden demise was great shock to us. Your caring love towards the other was wonderful, especially when you were sick. Your welcoming spirit and hospitality could never be forgotten by the people who experienced your mild and pleasant way of approach. The guest who comes in to our house enjoyed your presence. Your acceptance and cleanliness was admirable, the people lovingly called you Sr. Stanyamme.

Now intercede for us to your Beloved Father. May Your Soul Rest In Peace.

                                         With deep sorrow,

Srs. Mary, Mercy and Community,

Mathagondapalli & Mathil.
