21 Jul, 2025

Dear Sr. Jane Francis,

            “Sadly missed along life’s way,

      Lovingly remembered every day,

No longer in our life to share,

But in our hearts you’re always there”.

Yes Dear Sisters,

    “Death is not the end; it is a new beginning;

it is an amazing transition into a new world called Heaven”.

Sr. Jane Francis was born on 9th February 1940 in Kerala at Pazhuvil to the devoted parents Mr. K. Antony and Mrs. Rosa Antony. Attracted by the divine call she joined the Franciscan Servants of Mary and Pronounced her first vows on 17th May 1965 and final commitment on 17th May 1970. She was committed, dedicated, generous, determined, hardworking, loving and tender in all her doings with the little ones and elderly people. She had special love towards children and people who were economically poor. She rendered her service in different communities such as Mathagondapalli, Elathagiri, Hosur, Krishanagiri, Mathigiri, Christupalayam, Vadanapalli, Pothy, Tenali and Bangalore with dedication and commitment. Just few months ago she was brought to St. John’s hospital in Bangalore from Pothy and after the necessary treatment she was brought to Mathagondapalli on 6th August. It is a great privilege her vision and mission started in Mathagondapalli and ended in Mathagondapalli, it is indeed the plan of God. She is a person who is filled with love and compassion, her life was centred on Christ and channelled her spirit in works of mercy. Her deep faith in God, kind words, encouraging spirit and forgiving attitude are well admired and appreciated. She was a source of inspiration to many and she played a silent powerful determining role to accomplish the task which was entrusted to her.

She was suffering from many health issues specially she had cardiac and lung ailment which was serious. Though she showed a little improvement the Lord had different plan for her and breathed her last breath on 9th of November at 12.40 pm. Although we know death is inevitable and the ultimate end for all of us, still we find it difficult and hard to accept this painful moments.

On the 10th of November her family members arrived in the morning and at 2.30 p.m we had a meaningful farewell Prayer service for Sr. Jane Francis surrounded by our sisters, Novices and family members and then we had a long procession to Sacred Heart Parish church, Madagondapalli. We had solemn requiem mass concelebrated by 12 priests at 3.30 p.m. Rev. Fr. Maria Joseph V.F the main celebrant paid homage on behalf of Bishop and Priests of Dharmapuri Diocese. At the end of the holy mass farewell message was given to the gathering by our Provincial Sr. Miriam and Sr. Mary the animator expressed our gratitude to all our FSM Sisters and Medical Personals who assisted Sr. Jane Francis in her illness.  Our Mother Earth welcomed her in our convent cemetery in the presence of Priests, Sisters, Relatives, Friends and Parishioners as we bid farewell to our beloved sister.

Dear Sister Jane Francis…..

          God looked around His garden

And found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth

And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you

And lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful

He always takes the best.

He knew you were suffering

He knew you were in pain.

So he closed your weary eyelids

And whispered, ‘Peace to you”

It broke our hearts to lose you

In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.

Yours lovingly,

Sr. Mary and Community,

Mathagondapalli.
