A Loving tribute to our dear Sr. Mary

“A heart that puffed up with the love of God has stopped”.

“A heart that shared, love and concern has stopped”.

“A heart that created belongingness towards each one of us has stopped”.

Dear Sr. Mary we treasure and cherish your goodness and magnify the Lord for your 50 years of golden spiritual service in Our FSM family. She was born in Krishnagiri in 1952 to the adorable parents Selvaraj and Susai Mary. She was the 8th child among the 10 siblings. She made her first profession in 1975 and her final commitment in 1980.

She has served in the congregation in different capacities such as Assistant Novice Mistress and animator in Navajeevan, Tiruchengode and in Madhagondapalli and principal in Krishnagiri, Tiruchengode and Chennai. She was provincial councilor for two terms. She was a great missionary in London for 8 years greatly involved in pastoral ministry. She was a great blessing to our FSM family and the people far and wide.

A good hearted person, loyal to the congregation and a faithful servant who lived her committed life fully and totally for God and His people. She nurtured belongingness and created a space for every one of us to feel welcomed, needed and wanted. A true Franciscan filled with humor and spontaneity. She was very hospitable and ready to share the fruits from the garden such as vegetables, greens and home made things prepared by her hands to the far and near communities. She was a keen observer filled with wisdom and nobility. She was very obedient and discrete in her committed life. She was very pious and devoted to Blessed Virgin Mary.

She richly cared the elders and the younger ones and didn’t hesitate to provide the delicious food and chats whenever we visited a new place or outing. Above all we have cherished her sisterly love, concern, affection and kindness.

She was very charitable towards the poor people. She was very generous in giving and sharing as a role model. She was a beacon of hope for the teachers, students and parents. She was very kind and gentle towards each one she met. Her selfless deeds, kindness shine so bright.

Her impressive words were meticulous. She was meticulous in planning things, very meticulous in teaching traits. Her life was meticulous. Her doing was meticulous and being was meticulous. It is a great privilege that her vision and mission began in Mathagondapalli and ended in Mathagondapalli indeed it’s the plan of God.

She was on medication in St. John’s medical college for 20 days. All of us expected her to receive with happiness to our abode. On the other side   God admired her preciousness so much that he wanted to coronate this bloomed beautiful flower from FSM family in heavenly abode to spread the fragrance of Sr. Mary in heaven. She completely surrendered herself in the hands of God at 2.50am peacefully on 20-08-2024.

Our sincere thanks to Rev. Sr. Reetha Paul, Superior General and Rev. Sr. Miriam the provincial and Councilors for their support.
